How Long Does it Take to Install a New Roof

If you are going to be working with a local roofing contractor you might be interested in knowing how long it might take to get a new roof installed. Even the most experienced contractors may take several days to complete an average size roof. If there is a large amount of damage to your roof or there is poor weather in the area, there could be an extension of the amount of time that it takes to replace your roof as well. All cases are completely unique to the specific project however here are some estimates so that you can have an idea on how long it may take to install your new roofing system:

A flat roof: Most flat roofing systems take around five working days to complete a removal and installation of new roof. If your roofing area is a bit larger it could take 5 to 7 days to complete the work on a flat roof area.

Traditional shingle: A traditional shingle replacement usually takes between four and five working days. The removal of your old shingles will take place first and the installation of new shingles will take the remainder of the time.

Tile roofs: A tile roof will traditionally take around a full 8 working days to install. This would include the removal of your old roofing materials and the full installation of the new tile system.

Metal roof: A complete replacement using metal roofing materials will require 12 days to install. Depending on the complexity of your roof you might want to expect between 2 to 3 full weeks of installation for a metal roof.

Other factors like weather, permit requirements, a need for third-party inspections as well as the availability of crew and materials can slow down work and extend the typical amount of time it takes to perform these installations.

By coordinating with an experienced contractor you can have regular updates on the nature of your installation so that you can know what to expect with your roofing installation.
